Pioneer Marine Adds First Green Dolphin Handysize

Oslo-listed dry bulk specialist Pioneer Marine Inc. has taken delivery of its first 38,464 dwt, Green Dolphin eco-design handysize dry bulk carrier – the M.V. Falcon Bay – from Yangzhou Guoyu Shipbuilding, China. 

The ship’s fuel consumption is about 6 tonnes per day lower than the non-eco design vessels, according to Pioneer Marine.

The Green Dolphin newbuilding is equipped with a hull strengthened to Ice Class 1C, fully logs fitted, suitable for the carriage of various dangerous cargoes, grab fitted, ABB Octopus system for fuel consumption optimization, as well as mass flow meters on the bunker line.

The Falcon Bay will commence a 1 year charter on a floating rate based on the Baltic Handy index plus a premium. The charterer may extend the charter for up to one additional year.

The delivery of the Falcon Bay expands the company’s operating fleet to thirteen handysize vessels and one handymax vessel, with additional 11 handysize newbuildings on order for delivery through 2016 and 2017. The handysize Green Dolphins newbuildings are designed by SDARI.
