PLOCAN teams up with Tecnalia for ocean RD&I

Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN) and Tecnalia have signed an agreement to collaborate on marine, maritime, oceanic and deep-water scientific research, development and innovation (RD&I) activities.

The agreement was signed by Octavio Llinás González, Director of PLOCAN, and Fernando Quero Sanz, Director of Business Development at the Tecnalia applied research centre, on July 27, 2016.

It involves the extension of collaboration to other areas of common interest including RD&I programmes and projects, international cooperation, programmes for revitalisation and technology transfer to businesses and institutions, continuous and specialised training for corporations, and actions, initiatives and projects relating to entrepreneurship and business activities.

The two parties have also agreed to share knowledge in the fields of marine science and technology and associated areas, manage and share use of facilities and any other collaboration regarding infrastructure and scientific and technological instrumentation.

Tecnalia is the privately funded applied research and technological development center in Spain.

PLOCAN (Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands) is a research facility co-funded by the Economy and Competitiveness Ministry of the Spanish government and the Canary Islands government, with the aim of supporting the research and development in the fields of ocean science and technology.
