Poland: GAZ-System to Develop Project for Bundled Capacity Product

GAZ-System to Develop Project for Bundled Capacity Product

The Transmission System Operators (TSOs) GAZ-SYSTEM S.A., and ONTRAS – VNG Gastransport GmbH, have agreed with the Polish Energy Regulatory Office (ERO) and the German Bundesnetzagentur (BNetzA) to establish a pilot project for a bundled capacity product to be introduced by summer 2013.

The bundled product will be based on the rules set out by the European Capacity Allocation Mechanisms Network Code (NC CAM) and will be offered at the German-Polish Interconnection Point Lasów. A concept of the two TSOs for the respective pilot was confirmed by both national regulatory authorities at the end of July 2012.

For the pilot project it is envisaged that bundled capacity for quarters II-IV of the Gas Year 2013/14 (January – September 2014) will be auctioned in 2013. Capacities for the first quarter of the Gas Year 2013/14 (quarter IV 2013) is already contracted and can therefore not be offered.

In the upcoming months the TSOs focus on the contractual details and discuss IT solutions to implement the pilot project.
