Gdansk Shipyard to Launch Ropax Ferry Stavanger Fjord on April 8th

„Stavanger Fjord” – a ropax ferry is almost ready! On Thursday, the 8th of April at 12 PM, the vessel will be launched from the B1 slipway at Gdansk Shipyard. Just like at the ceremonies of steel cutting and keel laying, guests from Norway – Fjord Line ship owner and Bergen Group Fosen (for whom SG is a subcontractor) will also honor the shipyard with their presence at the launching ceremony.

Stavanger Fjord is a modern vessel, adapted for implementing a pro-ecological solutions. A midship is equipped with a special room dedicated for installation of LNG propulsion” – explains project manager Piotr Kaszubowski. “Usage of such fuel is a substantial factor in reducing environmental pollution. Launching ceremony is open for all the Shipyard workers, their families and all the Tri-city residents as well.

The new ship will have a deadweight of 3,900 tons and a total length of 170 meters. The ship will offer 306 cabins, many of which will be suites, and will accommodate 1,500 passengers. The cargo deck will have capacity for 600 personal vehicles or a smaller number in combination with larger trucks and cargo.
