‘Polar Duchess’ Carry Out to 3,500km2 Seismic Survey (Norway)

'Polar Duchess' to 3,500km2 Seismic Survey (Norway)

Dolphin Geophysical’s high-end 3D seismic vessel, the Polar Duchess, will start acquisition of new UtStord Multi-Client Survey in the Norwegian North Sea.

The 3,500km2 survey is highly prefunded by industry and will commence around June 14th. Acquisition is scheduled to take approximately 3-4 months in total with prioritised acreage being acquired first. To assist clients with initial acreage reviews, Dolphin will perform high-end Fast-Track processing on-board the Polar Duchess and complete the full PSDM at the Dolphin UK processing Centre.

The project parameters have been designed with considerable input from clients and additional oil companies are anticipated to join this attractive project shortly. Dolphin said in a statement that its acquisition and processing of both Conventional and SHarp BroadBand data is now well accepted and recognised in both the UK and Norway regions.

“This second large Multi-Client survey in Norway, is another milestone for Dolphin “ said Ian T. Edwards, Dolphin VP Global Multi-Client Surveys & New Ventures

“The UtStord 3D Multi-Client survey will position Dolphin in a new attractive area of the Norwegian North Sea where recently several large discoveries have been made sparking a new level of interest from industry in the  emaining unlicensed acreage”
