Polskie LNG names new head

Polskie LNG, a unit of the Polish gas transmission operator, Gaz-System, and the company in charge of the Polish LNG import terminal, named Paweł Jakubowski as its new head. 

Jakubowski who will preside the company’s management board and has already taken office on March 13, the company said in a statement.

Previously, Jakubowski held the position of managing director of Polskie LNG.

He has worked in the energy sector since 2007 when he started in the Ministry of Economy in charge of key gas supply diversification projects in Poland such as the LNG terminal in Świnoujście and the Norwegian Shelf gas deliveries.

From November 2007 to January 2009, Jakubowski worked in research and development division at PGNiG, a state-owned gas company.

In 2009, he joined Gaz-System where he has been directly involved in the development of company’s long-term strategy and owner’s supervision over Polskie LNG. He was also in charge of the development and implementation of the construction project of underground natural gas storage facilities.

Since January 2016, acting as development division director at Gaz-System Jakubowski supervised the development and implementation of the company’s long-term investment plan in Polish gas infrastructure, including the realisation of the North-South Corridor concept through the expansion of the LNG terminal in Świnoujście and the development of the Baltic Pipe project, as well as the expansion of cross-border interconnectors with Lithuania, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Ukraine.

As the Director of the Development Division, he also supervised the activities related with the European regulatory framework in natural gas sector, international cooperation and business development of LNG services.

Polskie LNG said that as of March 13, the company’s management board consists of two members with Bartłomiej Słoma remaining as vice-president.
