The week before this one was filled with stories about the vessel Pieter Schelte and the controversy regarding its name.
Namely, the unions in the UK did not want the vessel named after a Nazi Germany’s Waffen-SS officer to be working in the UK. What followed was an announcement that indeed the vessel will be renamed and that has been our most read news story of the week.
The second most read news story was about an explosion on a BW Offshore owned and operated FPSO. The explosion happened offshore Brazil where the vessel was operating for Petrobras.
More bad news from the industry came when FMC Technologies, Halliburton and KCA Deutag announced job cuts due to a dramatic fall in the oil prices.
