REN’s Sines LNG terminal located on Portugal’s Atlantic coast is scheduled to receive a cargo of the chilled fuel from Nigeria’s Bonny export plant.

The 148,565-cbm LNG Kano, owned by BW, is due to dock at the Sines import terminal on Friday, according to the shipping data by the port of Sines.

Portugal mostly imports liquefied natural gas from Nigeria, Algeria and Qatar.

The country earlier this year also received the first cargo from Cheniere’s Sabine Pass LNG export terminal in Louisiana. This was the first U.S. LNG cargo produced from shale gas to reach Europe.

Portugal’s only LNG import facility in Sines port has a nominal sendout capacity of 600,000 cubic meters per hour (5.26 bcm per year), with a peak capacity of 900,000 cubic meters per hour.
