PPG Showcases Underwater-Hull and Other Coatings at Marintec China 2011

PPG Industries’  protective and marine coatings business is showcasing an innovative new coating and additional coatings products in Hall W3, Booth 3D11 during the Marintec China 2011 conference and exhibition, Nov. 29 to Dec. 2, at Shanghai New International Expo Center.

PPG is dedicated to developing, manufacturing and supplying coatings that anticipate the demands of the global marine and protective coatings industries,” said Benjamin Tan, PPG vice president, protective and marine coatings Asia/Pacific. “Our product portfolio provides proven solutions for key issues affecting shipbuilding and ship operations.”

At Marintec China, PPG is featuring SIGMA SYLADVANCE(TM) 800 and SIGMAGLIDE(R) 990 premium underwater hull coatings, which help to improve marine vessel fuel efficiency and offer antifouling performance:

SIGMA SYLADVANCE 800 coating is a silyl acrylate antifouling formulation with self-smoothing properties that is being implemented on a range of vessel types for both new-building and maintenance-and-repair projects.

SIGMAGLIDE 990 coating is a biocide-free, fouling-release underwater-hull coating that offers excellent performance for those seeking “green” products.

PPG also offers SIGMAWELD(TM) shop primers and SIGMAPRIME(R) “universal” primers that help ship owners and shipyards to maximize productivity and to get excellent in-service performance. SIGMAPRIME coating has now completed more than a decade of outstanding service in the demanding conditions of water ballast tanks.

Also, shipyards that are turning to the offshore market for extra business can use SIGMASHIELD(TM) 880 coating. This rapid-immersion, abrasion-resistant, surface-tolerant, multipurpose epoxy coating, is useful in a wide range of industries and applications, including offshore oil and gas, offshore wind, mining, power and infrastructure, providing cost savings through application efficiency and improved performance.
