Prelude FLNG Project on Track, Shell Says (The Netherlands)

Shell’s Prelude FLNG project offshore Australia is on track for operations around 2017, Platts reported, citing Marjan van Loon, Shell vice president for LNG and processing.

Van loon also said that the FLNG project is under no schedule pressure to be the first operating FLNG facility.

Because the success of this is reliable operations, we are really coming at having this right, rather than being the first,” van Loon said.

We can’t comment on what others are doing. We know there’s a lot of people looking at floating developments,” van Loon added.

Shell took final investment decision on the Prelude FLNG Project on 20 May, 2011.

Once operational, the Prelude FLNG facility will produce at least 5.3 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of liquids: 3.6 mtpa of LNG, 1.3 mtpa of condensate and 0.4 mtpa of LPG.
