Presenting David Molenaar, speaker at the Offshore WIND Conference

David Molenaar, Country Division Head Wind Power at Siemens Netherlands, will be one of our speakers during this year’s Offshore WIND Conference which will be held in Amsterdam RAI on 24th and 25th October.

The theme of the Offshore WIND Conference this year is ‘Reaching Potential’ and will discuss the opportunities available in the industry and how the industry can develop its supply chain. Molenaar will be speaking during the opening session in which leading players from the industry will delve into ‘Calling the shots’.

Molenaar worked during his doctoral research in the period of July 2001 – January 2002 for Siemens Netherlands N.V. to tender for the Dutch first offshore wind farm work. As a project manager, he was responsible for the design of a cost-support structure for the planned turbines.

In 2004 he started as a project engineer at Siemens Netherlands N.V. At the end of 2004 he was involved, as a technical specialist, in the acquisition of Bonus Energy A/S. In October 2005 he was appointed Business Unit Manager Wind Power. In that position, Molenaar realized Siemens’ final turnkey wind farm with non-Siemens turbines.

From October 2007 to date, Molenaar was also responsible for establishing and expanding the Offshore Engineering Center of Competence (CoC) from Siemens Wind Power in The Hague. He leads a team of young and experienced engineers who passionately work on both the realization of Siemens’ offshore wind farms as well as determining its strategy how to lower the life cycle cost of offshore wind further.
