Prosafe clinches first gig for ‘Safe Notos’

Prosafe, an owner and operator of semi-submersible accommodation vessels, has signed a contract with an undisclosed client for the provision of an accommodation vessel in the UK sector of the North Sea.

Prosafe said that the contract firm period commitment is over eight months and will involve an initial short period using the Safe Zephyrus starting in Q2 2016, to be replaced with the Safe Notos on arrival into the North Sea.

In addition, Prosafe has granted four one-month options. The company added that total value of the contract for the firm period is approximately $60 million.

In 2013, Prosafe entered into a contract with COSCO (Qidong) Offshore for the engineering, procurement and construction of two semi-submersible accommodation vessels, that will be ready for operations in 2016. One of these vessels is the Safe Notos and the other one is the Safe Eurus that recently won a three-year contract with Petrobras for safety and maintenance support offshore Brazil.

The vessels are of a Gusto MSC’s Ocean 500 design and will be equipped with 500 beds, DP3 station keeping systems, and 10-point chain mooring and 300 tonne cranes.
