Qatargas Participates in Qatar Week: Ferjaan in Tokyo

Qatargas participated as a strategic sponsor in the “Qatar Week: Ferjaan in Tokyo” held from September 27 to October 1 as part of Qatar-Japan 2012, a celebration of 40 years of diplomatic relations between the State of Qatar and Japan.

Ferjaan in Tokyo, a temporary Qatari village inspired by the architecture of Souq Waqif hosted traditional arts and crafts and showcased Qatari culture. The five-day event, held at Roppongi Hills, one of Tokyo’s most popular areas for shopping and leisure, attracted thousands of visitors.

Qatargas exhibited at the Ferjaan in Tokyo Exhibition with a dedicated pavilion showcasing the Company’s LNG facilities, through printed material, a corporate film and a TV commercial. A general presentation on Qatargas was delivered to visitors at the main stage on a daily basis.

The event provided an authentic insight into Qatari culture, promoting understanding between the State of Qatar and Japan. A number of Qatari companies and organizations were present at the souk that depicted Qatari life, culture and business. Activities at the event included Qatari music and dance performances, informative talks and presentations, film screenings, and an exhibition of Qatari products.

Japan has a historical place in Qatar’s Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) business. Qatar’s LNG deliveries started when the first cargo of LNG from Qatargas was shipped to Japan in early 1997. Japan is Qatargas’ foundation customer and the world’s biggest importer of LNG.

Qatargas’ participation in the event is part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility strategy which encompasses the communities and environments in which we operate.
