QGC Highlights Business Opportunities at Chinchilla Forum

More than 200 Western Downs businesspeople have learnt about opportunities to work with QGC at the natural gas company’s annual contractor and local business forum in Chinchilla.

Tradespeople, suppliers and other businesses heard from QGC and major contractors at the event, which was supported by the Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise.

Speakers included representatives of QGC’s major contractors in the region, such as Thiess, Ostwald Brothers, Schlumberger, Murphy Pipe and Civil, Veolia and Transfield.

More than 25 similar events have been held by QGC for local businesses across the Queensland Curtis LNG Project area during the past four years.

Vice President Production Operations Peter Thompson said QGC would award further contracts to support long-term operations and maintenance during the next year.

“QGC is delivering significant benefits to local communities, with more than A$680 million already spent in the Western Downs,” Mr Thompson told the forum.

“Our business is moving from construction to operations and we have started awarding long-term contracts to maintain and operate our gas and water processing facilities.

“Forums like these are a great opportunity for local firms to meet face to face with QGC and contractors who will be working in the Surat Basin and require support and for decades to come.”

QGC requires its major contractors to give Australian suppliers full, fair and reasonable opportunity to participate in QCLNG.

More than 115,300 Australian businesses have registered their interest in doing business with QGC since 2010.
