Quadrant in well spud delay (Australia)

Quadrant Energy, an Australian oil and gas company, has yet to spud the Roc-1 well, offshore W. Australia.

According to Carnarvon Petroleum, a partner in the project, the Noble Tom Prosser jack-up drilling rig is at the well location, however the rig owner is now waiting for certification of in-transit safety case modifications before drilling starts.

Quadrant, established following completion of Apache Energy acquisition by Brookfield and Macquarie Capital,  has reported that the well is ready to spud once the rig owner, Noble Corporation, receives certification and approval for in-transit safety case modifications to the rig.

Under the original plan, the drilling operations should have started in early to mid November 2015. The well is estimated to take around 50 to 60 days to complete. Carnarvon did not say how much the delay would last.

Once the drilling starts, the Roc-1 well will target the same Lower Keraudren reservoir in which oil was discovered in the 2014 Phoenix South-1 well by the same joint venture partners in the adjoining WA-435-P.

Contingent on the success case, the plan is to re-enter the Roc-1 well bore in Q3, 2016 for comprehensive testing (including flow testing) and coring.
