RasGas Holds Supply Forum in Doha, Qatar

RasGas recently organised the company’s third Supply Forum at Katara Hall in Doha.

The networking platform with the theme, “Sharing Experience,” was attended by more than 250 local and international suppliers of the company.

The Forum saw the coming together of RasGas senior management and its suppliers, vendors, contractors and key business associates, in addition to the representatives from the Ministry of Environmental Affairs, the General Directorate of Customs and the Qatar Petroleum affiliates

Hamad Rashid Al Mohannadi, RasGas Managing Director said the company enjoyed another successful year in 2011 as one of the most successful global energy suppliers in the world with a strong reputation for safety and reliability.

He said the long-term relationship RasGas enjoys with its suppliers plays a vital role in its continued success. “RasGas has always demanded the highest standards from its suppliers, in support of the company’s commitment to safety, reliability and excellence in performance and we are proud that the best practices our suppliers bring to us consistently raise the bar in quality levels and standards enabling RasGas to excel in all aspects of its business,” said Al Mohannadi.

He said RasGas is delighted to have been entrusted by its shareholders with the design, construction and operation of the strategically important new Barzan Gas Project, which will provide the energy for the continued industrial development of the State of Qatar.

When Barzan is fully completed by 2015, RasGas will be the largest gas processor in the world handling 11bcfd or 2 million barrels of oil equivalent per day. We look forward to our suppliers to continue meeting our requirements for this project and across all our operations,” said Al Mohannadi.

Abdullah Al Mahmoud, RasGas Supply Manager, said the objectives of the Supply Forum were to improve understanding of RasGas supply chain business processes, establish long-term business relationship with key suppliers, emphasize RasGas expectations and business practices, broadcast the company’s current and future expansion activities as well as reaffirm its commitment on developing local supply market.

At RasGas, we believe that sharing our collective experience and knowledge is the best way to improve our effectiveness and efficiency of our relations. The provision of services and goods are integral to the supply chain and, strategically, an important link to ensure secure and reliable delivery of our products to the global customer base. Achieving this requires engagement, understanding and collaboration across the board,” he said.
