RasGas Makes Progress in Qatarization Programme

RasGas Company Limited (RasGas) has made a big leap in its Qatarisation programme in 2011 as the company’s Operations Group had a total of 138 Qatari trainees last year, including 66 trainees newly enrolled in 2011.

The growth of the number of Qataris joining for training in RasGas has been on a steady increase for the last four years. When the Competency Assurance and Training (CAT) division of its Operations Business Department managed 27 Qatari trainees in 2008, the number has now grown to 138 in 2011. During this period, RasGas has confirmed a total of 137 Qatari trainees in its different departments under the Operations Group.

While 66 new Qatari trainees were recruited to RasGas’ Process and Maintenance departments last year, from among the 138 trainees managed by CAT division in 2011, 47 trainees, who completed RasGas specific Certificate-3 training course, were confirmed by the end of the year.

Hamad Mubarak Al Muhannadi, RasGas Operations Group Manager, who addressed the new recruits at a special welcoming session held recently at the RasGas Training Centre in Ras Laffan said: “RasGas believes in bolstering the confidence of its workforce by enabling the employees to hone their skills in all areas of work on a regular basis as our human resources constitute the main asset of the company.”

Al Muhannadi reiterated RasGas’s commitment to professional development of young Qataris by creating a performance-based culture and setting up competency-based training in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 as they represent the future generation of the country’s professionals and leaders.

He told the trainees that safety is the key focus in RasGas and hard work has no alternative to climb the ladder of success.

Al Muhannadi along with Fahad Al Khater, Operations Projects Department Manager, Houd Al Obaidly, Operations Business Department Manager and Khalid Al-Hemaidi, Operations Manufacturing Manager, explained the growth plans of the company in reply to the questions raised by the new recruits. The highly interactive session with the leadership reflected the positive indication of trainees’ enthusiasm towards their career and future prospects. The leaders also distributed certificates and gifts to the trainees.
