RasGas on Major Recruitment Drive

RasGas Company, one of the world’s leading liquefied natural gas producers, is on a major recruitment drive in the United Kingdom (UK) looking for young and talented Qatari engineers who would like to make a career in the dynamic world of natural gas.

The company took part in several recruitment driven initiatives in the UK between 19th and 25th February 2013.

As part of the programme, RasGas participated in the 6th Annual Career Fair for Qatari students in the UK in London on 22nd and 23rd February. Established in 2007, the fair has attracted scores of Qatari students over the years. The 2013 fair attracted more than 100 undergraduate and postgraduate students.

There are currently over 1,000 Qatari students enrolled in university programmes in the UK. The 2013 fair therefore provides RasGas with a platform to introduce students to a wide array of career opportunities, scholarships and internship programmes on offer at RasGas and other prominent Qatari organisations and institutions.

“RasGas is delighted to take part in the UK Career Fair for the sixth year in a row. The event provides a platform to not only connect with local students studying abroad but also works to attract the highest calibre of engineering graduates for scholarships at RasGas. Students were also introduced to other career options available in different fields and were provided with valuable advice on qualifications and skills,” said Erhama Al-Kaabi, Employee Development and Welfare Group Manager at RasGas.

As part of the programme, RasGas also hosted a scholar lunch gathering and visited RasGas students and employees sponsored at nine prestigious universities across the UK. The visits provided RasGas with the opportunity to not only measure existing student progress but network and discuss further programme improvement initiatives.

“This recruitment programme is a testament to our commitment to fully support the national development strategy with specific emphasis on nurturing and supporting our national talent, as set out in the Qatar National Vision 2030,” he added.

RasGas is one of the first Qatari companies to participate in the UK Career Fair and has since recruited countless Qatari students from overseas. Currently, about 32.8% of its total workforce is made up of Qataris, and is looking to raise that to about 50% by 2022.
