RasGas signs LNG supply deal with EDF

RasGas of Qatar on Wednesday entered into an agreement with EDF of France to supply up to 3 million tons of LNG per year to the Dunkerque terminal.

Under the agreement, Ras Laffan Liquefied Natural Gas Company Limited (3) will begin with the deliveries in 2017 over a medium term, a company statement reads.

The new agreement adds to the three existing long-term deal between RasGas and EDF Group units, for delivery of up to 4.6 mtpa to Edison in Italy and up to 3.5 mtpa to EDF Trading in Belgium.

Marc Benayoun EDF Group senior executive, vice president Gas & Italy and CEO of Edison, said the deal with RasGas strengthens the position of the Dunkerque LNG terminal in the North West European market.

The terminal is set to receive its first commissioning cargo on July 8.

In an earlier statement, Dunkirk LNG informed the commercial operations at the terminal will begin in September.
