Report: Shell cutting more than 200 jobs in Norway

Shell is reportedly set to lay off more than 200 workers in Norway, Safe, a Norwegian oil workers union said on Friday.

According to a statement by SAFE (in Norwegian) Shell has said it will cut 75 permanent positions and 156 contract workers as projects at its Nyhamna plant and Draugen field in the Norwegian Sea are nearing the end.

The union says that 90 workers will be let go from Nyhamna, of which 75 are contractors.

Offshore Energy Today has reached out to Shell, seeking more details. We will update the article if we get a response.

We haveĀ also contacted the Norwegian Oil and Gas Association, a body representing the employers. The spokesperson said they wouldn’t comment on company specific matters.
