Report: Turkey seizes over a ton of heroin from offshore vessel

Turkish authorities have reportedly recovered what is believed to be one of the largest ever drug seizures in the country’s history.

According to Anadolu News Agency, some 1070 kilograms of heroin were found aboard an offshore supply vessel Commander Tide during a raid that happened on June 2 off the Suez Canal.

After boarding the ship, the security forces reportedly found the drugs in the hidden compartments aboard the ship.

Anadolu New Agency has shared a video apparently showing the operation.

As for the vessel itself, information available is scarce. The ship was built in 1984. It was previously named Tiger II.
