Rosneft Delivers Its First LNG to EGAS

Russian gas producer Rosneft has delivered its first ever LNG shipment as part of its contract with Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), using Golar Ice tanker owned by Golar LNG.

Rosneft Trading SA, a subsidiary of the Rosneft Group entered a Master LNG Supply and Purchase Agreement with EGAS in August 2015. Prior to this agreement, the two companies signed two term sheets that defined key terms of the future cooperation between the companies in the area of LNG supplies.

Built in 2014 by South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries, Golar Ice has a gross tonnage of 100,800 tons and a capacity of 160,000 cubic meters.

Rosneft and Golar inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in March 2015 on cooperation in the area of floating liquefaction (FLNG) and transportation of natural gas.

Under the MoU, the duo set the framework to explore opportunities for the use of Golar’s GoFLNG facilities in Latin America and potentially other locations.
