Rowe’s Current Profilers to Be Used in WPOS

Rowe Technologies recently delivered 12 acoustic Doppler current profilers to be used in the Western Pacific Ocean System project.

Rowe's Current Profilers to be Used in WPOS

WPOS was developed by the Chinese Academy of Science Institute of Oceanology in Qingdao and will monitor the Kuroshio Current, a north flowing ocean current situated in the northwest of the Pacific Ocean.

The project is composed of six arrays that include 29 moorings whose goal is to better understand climate change and coastal environments. Rowe Technologies and its regional selling partner, Shanghai Pan Communications Scientific Instrument Company, Ltd, worked with scientists on the project to find the correct solution. In the end, it was decided that twelve 300 kHz ADCPs with integrated pressure sensors was the perfect fit.

The instruments will be deployed for one-year intervals and used to monitor currents and water level in shallow water.
