Royal Caribbean Negotiating Order at Turku

New York-listed cruise liner Royal Caribbean (RCCL) is reported to be in talks with Meyer Werft, the German owner of Meyer Turku Shipyard, over a contract on construction of cruise ships.

Under the deal, if finalized, the construction of the ships would start in 2020 at the Finnish yard, the Helsingin Sanomat daily writes.

The size of the ships or the potential scope of the deal being discussed have not yet been disclosed.

The shipyard has already built ships for the cruise liner, including the Oasis of the Seas and the Allure of the Seas, in 2009 and 2010, respectively.

Neither Meyer nor Royal Caribbean have yet replied to emails sent by World Maritime News seeking comment.

Meyer took full ownership in Finish Turku shipyard earlier this month.
