Russia: Sakhalin Energy Hits LNG Milestone

Sakhalin Energy Hits LNG Milestone

Sakhalin Energy said it has offloaded the 700th LNG cargo from Prigorodnoye production complex on Thursday. The first LNG cargo was produced and delivered by the company in 2009, when the first Russia’s LNG plant has been launched by Sakhalin Energy.

The cargo was loaded to Fuji LNG carrier to be delivered to Japan, the company said in a statement.

Asia-Pacific is a major global center for LNG consumption (c.a. 66%). These are geographically adjacent markets, and this is a beneficial factor for the Sakhalin Energy. Korea is the second-largest buyer of Sakhalin LNG, while most of it is shipped to Japan. LNG cargoes are also delivered to China, Taiwan and Thailand.

More than 45 mln tonnes of LNG have been produced since Sakhalin Energy started production in 2009. In 2013 the company plans to produce more than 10,5 million tonnes of LNG.
