Russia - Vyborg Shipyard to Build Two Diesel-powered Icebreakers

Vyborg Shipyard and United Shipbuilding Corporation yesterday signed contract for the construction of two diesel-powered icebreakers. The contract, worth about RUB 8 billion (approx. $ 272.6 million), was signed by the President of JSC “USC” Roman Trotsenko and General Director of OJSC “Vyborg Shipyard” Valery Levchenko.

These two Icebreaker of Project 21900M – double-decker, equipped with a helipad, have the displacement of 10.000 tons with the length of 116 m and width of 26.5 m will be able to overcome the ice thickness up to 1.5 meters.

The inclusion of the Vyborg plant in the United Shipbuilding Corporation opens a new chapter in the glorious history of your legendary company”  said Roman Trotsenko.

Delivery deadline for new icebreakers is set for May and October 2015.
