RWE Dea Egypt Names New General Manager

RWE Dea Egypt Gets New General Manager

As the new General Manager, starting in November Maximillian Fellner will be in charge of the operations of RWE Dea Egypt in Cairo.

Fellner, a petroleum engineer, has been responsible since 2008 as General Manager for the Suez Oil Company (SUCO), the joint venture of RWE Dea and the Egyptian General Petroleum Company (EGPC). The Austrian, aged 49, will be resigning from this role effective 31 October. Previously, Fellner had been engaged in various positions in companies operating in the oil and gas industry, including countries like Kazakhstan, Romania, Pakistan, and Libya.

Maximillian Fellner succeeds to Dirk Warzecha as General Manager, who was appointed a member of the Board of Management of RWE Dea AG as of 1 November and will be relocating to the corporate headquarters in Hamburg. Dirk Warzecha has been General Manager of RWE Dea Egypt since May 2011.

Fellner‘s position as General Manager of SUCO in Egypt will be taken over as of 1 November 2012 by Thomas Hanking, who has been the Head of Subsurface and Deputy District Manager in the Holstein Production District of RWE Dea AG in Germany.

RWE Dea Egypt and its predecessor organisation have been operating successfully in Egypt since 1974 and, as operator, can look back on three decades of oil production in the Gulf of Suez. In recent years the company made a number of major gas discoveries in Egypt and boosted its activities considerably with the acquisition of additional concessions. RWE Dea has a total of 12 onshore and offshore concessions in Egypt, across a concession area of about 19,000 square kilometres.
