S5 North Europe Acquires Jardine Shipping Services

Rotterdam-based ship agency S5 North Europe has reached an agreement to buy 100% of the shares of Jardine Shipping Services from Jardine Pacific, a member of the Jardine Matheson Group. 

Jardine Shipping Services offers a range of port agency and liner agency services, working out of 52 port offices and covering around 200 major ports in Asia.

Both S5 North Europe and Jardine Shipping Services are shareholders of S5 Agency World, a growing port agency organization. In total, S5 has more than 300 port offices.

“Our legacy dates back to 1772 and Jardines Shipping Services has been operating for over 100 years. Together, two companies with rich histories in the industry will be shaping its future. By combining our businesses we are creating a market leader in the world’s two main shipping markets, Northern Europe and Asia,” said S5 North Europe CEO and owner Karel Peters.

The transaction is expected to close in summer 2015
