The conditional deal comprising an undisclosed number of vessels was signed with a shipowner from Eurasia on November 22, 2019.

The order is worth KRW 1.78 trillion (about USD 1.5 billion), Samsung Heavy said in a stock exchange filing on November 25.

As informed, the newbuilds are expected to be delivered to their owner by September 30, 2022.

No further details have been revealed.

The announcement follows last month’s order by Malaysia’s MISC Berhad for two 174,000 cbm LNG carriers at Samsung Heavy.

The newest order helped the shipbuilder reach about 88 percent of its annual order target, Business Korea reported. Specifically, SHI has won USD 6.9 billion worth of orders so far this year, up from USD 6.3 billion seen last year.
