Scotline Orders New Ship at Royal Bodewes

Essex-based shipping company Scotline has decided to expand its fleet as it ordered a new coaster at Royal Bodewes Group in the Netherlands.

The contract for the construction of the 4,785 dwt Bodewes Trader-type vessel includes an option of a second sister vessel.

The vessel, to be named MV Scot Carrier, will have a length of 89.98 meters, a beam of 15.2 meters and a maximum sailing draft of 5.68 meters.

It will be sailing under the British Flag and will be classed by Lloyds Register, the company said.

The hull is expected to be launched in September and the newbuild is slated for delivery in November 2018.

As informed, Scot Carrier will be fully container fitted, with Swedish ice class 1B and will be built to comply with all the latest legislation including provisions to be ready for the ballast water treatment system.

Scot Carrier will be the most recent addition to Scotline’s fleet of eight owned vessels. Last year, the company took delivery of Scot Navigator as part of its efforts to renew some of its older tonnage.

The company runs a fleet of coasters serving Northern Europe with regular routes between Sweden, Ireland, Denmark, Germany, Norway, the Baltic States, the Netherlands, France and the UK.
