SeaPlanner Joins Merkur Operations

SeaPlanner, SeaRoc Group’s marine monitoring and management solution, has been selected to support the operational phase of the Merkur offshore wind farm as part of the company’s strategic partnership with Marine Coordination Services BV.

Marine Coordination Services, who is in charge of all operational marine coordination activities during the commissioning of the project, will use the SeaPlanner system to manage the safety and efficiency of the work.

“We’re delighted to be supporting the Marine Coordination Services team with their work to manage all operational activities at this stage of the project,” said Graham Howe, SeaRoc Group Sales Manager.

“This contract goes to show the added value that our collaboration with companies such as MCS can bring to clients. With their experience and our software, we can provide the resources needed to manage a cost-efficient and safe project for the wind farm’s operation for years to come.”

The project’s principal contractor GeoSea selected SeaPlanner in January 2017 to support the construction of the 396MW wind farm by providing personnel and vessel tracking software, access control hardware and installation and setup of the marine coordination center based in Eemshaven, the Netherlands.

The Merkur wind farm comprises 66 GE Haliade 150-6MW turbines located some 35km north of the island of Borkum in Germany.

The project produced first power at the beginning of June 2018, with full commissioning scheduled for this year.
