Searcher wraps up new 2D seismic shoot off Mexico

Searcher Seismic, an independent multi-client company, has completed the acquisition of the Buscador Near-Shore 2D seismic survey offshore Mexico.

Searcher said on Wednesday that the Buscador Near-Shore 2D seismic survey was acquired by its project partner, BGP.

The survey data comprises 11,200 km of high quality, long-offset, newly acquired 2D data specifically targeting the near shore areas covering rounds 2, 3 and 4.

The data is currently being processed by DownUnder GeoSolution’s (DUG), with fast track data available from December, and final data deliverable next year.

Rachel Masters, Global Sales Manager for Searcher Seismic, said: “The Buscador Near-Shore 2D Seismic Survey has been designed to tie key exploration wells and to establish a regional framework for the entire prospective near-shore Mexican area.”

She added that the survey was located in shallower water depths, which is advantageous in a ‘low oil-price environment’.

To further complement the 2D regional survey, offshore Mexico, Searcher has developed a multi-client Basin Analysis Report of Mexico, the US, and surrounding areas, which is available now to assist companies with their exploration efforts in the area.
