Second U.S. LNG cargo delivered to Europe

Reganosa’s Mugardos LNG terminal in the port of Ferrol on Friday received the second ever cargo sent from Cheniere’s Sabine Pass LNG export facility in Louisiana to Europe.

The LNG cargo was delivered aboard the 138,000-cbm Sestao Knutsen, and is the first ever cargo to be delivered to Spain from the United States, Reganosa said in its statement.

Cheniere estimates that the United States will become the third largest LNG supplier in 2020 with a production capacity of 60 million tons per year.

Spain is expected to be one of the main recipients of U.S. fuel as it the European country with the best regasification network, Reganosa said.

The Atlantic orientation of Ferrol makes Reganosa´s terminal the “ideal place to receive that flow”.

The LNG terminal began operation in November 2007 and has the capacity to provide 3.6 billion cubic meters to the Spanish natural gas network.
