BW LNG, a unit of the Singapore-based gas shipping giant BW Group, said the FSRU BW Magna has started modification works at the Sembawang Shipyard.

The modification works are being carried out in preparation for its 23-year contract in Brazil, BW LNG informed through its social media channels.

The vessel capable of transporting 173,400 cubic meters of LNG will be deployed for GNA’s (Gás Natural Açu) Port Açu project in Brazil.

Scheduled to set off to Brazil in December this year, FSRU BW Magna has a regasification capacity of one billion standard cubic feet per day.

During the retrofit at Sembawang Shipyard, FSRU BW Magna will be fitted with ship-to-ship marine loading arms, a full reliquefaction plant and a full LNG sampling system.

Regasified volumes will be used to power the GNA’s thermoelectric power plants in the Port of Acu in Rio de Janeiro state.
