Sevan Drilling brings in Vantage man as new board member

Offshore drilling contractor Sevan Drilling has appointed a new member of the board of directors with effect from July 17, 2017.

Sevan said on Tuesday that Douglas Smith was named as a new director and Audit Committee chairman.

According to the company, Smith has extensive offshore drilling and finance experience and most recently served as the chief financial officer of Vantage Drilling for nine years, including through its restructuring process.

He holds a bachelor of business administration and masters of public accountancy degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and is a certified public accountant.

Also, the company informed that Ragnhild Wiborg has decided to resign as director of the company due to new responsibilities in other company’s boards.

Wiborg joined the board of Sevan Drilling in June 2014. She has 27 years of experience from the financial markets and is a board member of REC SIlicon, Borregarrd, EAM Solar, IM Skaugen, and Kistefos.

“The board of Sevan Drilling expresses their appreciation to Ms. Wiborg for her contributions since joining the board in 2014 and welcomes Mr. Smith to the board,” said Sevan.
