AS Norske Shell has received the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway’s (PSA’s) consent to use the West Navigator mobile drilling facility.

The consent relates to drilling and completion of production wells G1, G2, G3, and E4 and plugging and abandonment of wells A 53 and A 58 on the Draugen field.

The planned start-up is mid-December and the activity is expected to last until 1 September 2014.

The Draugen field was discovered in 1984 and production started in October 1993. The field is developed with a concrete facility resting on the seabed with integrated topsides. Stabilized oil is stored in tanks at the bottom of the facility. Two pipelines run from the facility to a floating loading buoy
