Shell Bids to Build Dutch Offshore Wind Farms

Following recent media reports that Shell, one of the biggest oil and gas companies, will take part in Dutch tender for Borssele I and II offshore wind sites as part of a consortium also comprising Eneco and Van Oord, the move was confirmed this afternoon (12 May).

The consortium informed that it had made a bid to participate in the Dutch government’s tender to build two wind farms at the Borssele I and II sites, located 22 km off the coast of Zeeland.

MHI Vestas has been selected as the preferred wind turbine supplier.

The wind power tender consists of two permits to build and operate two wind farms of up to 350MW of installed capacity each – enough to power the equivalent of 825,000 households.
