SHI Scores LNG Carrier Triplet Order
On October 13, Samsung Heavy Industries won an order amounting to USD 620 million for three LNG carriers from an unnamed Asian shipper.
The LNG carriers will have a capacity of 174,000 m3, featuring dual-fuel engines for increased efficiency and reduced emissions, Samsung said.
The carriers are scheduled to transfer shale gas exports from the US to Asia.
The construction works are expected to be completed by August 2018.
The latest order brings the value of the SHI’s orderbook in 2014 to close to USD 6.5 billion.
