Siemens’ Leeds Service Centre Working with Full Steam

Siemens has reported that its service centre in Leeds has a record numbers of wind turbines now being serviced at the site.

In the Stourton factory, several wind turbines, weighing around 64 tonnes in total and capable of powering 2,000 households, are currently being serviced.

With increasing UK demands for moving away from fossil fuels towards renewable energy and the growing numbers of onshore and offshore wind farms, Siemens service centre will be at the forefront of maintaining Britain’s developing renewable energy programme, the company said.

Gary Husband, Siemens wind service business manager, said: “By using lean techniques and establishing best practices at Leeds, we have increased the number of units we can assemble and service for customers. Our faster turnarounds are bringing huge benefits for those customers operating wind turbines. Leeds is an established authorised service centre for Winergy gear units, which means we conform to very strict quality processes and procedures meeting the required specifications in servicing and re-assembly.”
