Silversea Christens Silver Muse

Monaco-based cruise line Silversea Cruises has held a christening ceremony for Silver Muse, the ninth ship in its fleet.

The 40,700 gross ton cruise vessel was christened on April 19 in Monaco.

Attending the christening ceremony, Prince Albert II of Monaco said: “On behalf of the Principality of Monaco I would like to extend a warm welcome to Silver Muse, its crew and passengers. She represents the next generation of cruise ships in both fuel efficiency and energy saving technology.”

Expanding the company’s fleet to nine ships, the newbuilding comes with the Green star 3 Design notation, assigned to units that are designed, built and equipped in order to prevent air and water pollution.

The Bahamas-flagged Silver Muse features a length of 212.8 meters and a width of 27 meters. The ship is able to accommodate 596 passengers and 411 crew.

The construction of Silver Muse began at Fincantieri’s Sestri Ponente shipyard in Genoa in July 2015.

Earlier this month, the shipyard delivered Silver Muse to its owner.

Silversea has chosen Florida’s Port Everglades as the cruise ship’s winter homeport for the next two seasons.
