Singapore: Mr Tong Chong Heong Takes Senior Executive Post at Keppel

The Board and Management of Keppel Corporation Limited announced that Mr Tong Chong Heong, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M), has been appointed Senior Executive Director (SED) with effect from 1 July 2011.

Mr Tong Chong Heong has served as Executive Director on the Keppel Corporation Board since 1 August 2009. Mr Tong succeeded Mr Choo Chiau Beng as CEO of Keppel O&M on 1 January 2009, and will continue with his current scope of responsibilities in Keppel O&M. He was also appointed Chairman of Keppel Integrated Engineering (KIE) previously on 3 August 2009 after serving on the KIE board since 1999.

Mr Choo Chiau Beng, CEO of Keppel Corporation said, “Chong Heong was instrumental in helping me steer Keppel O&M to its position of a world-leading offshore & marine group today. I am happy to have him take on more responsibilities as SED in Keppel Corporation, and help me groom the next generation of Keppel leaders.

“Having served the Group for 40 years in various positions across our Offshore & Marine and Infrastructure businesses, Chong Heong has accumulated a wealth of experience, strong networks and a sterling track record of execution excellence. He will have good insights on how to maximise synergy across our businesses, and will continue to play a pivotal role in strengthening and growing the Keppel Group.”

Apart from his Board and executive roles in Keppel, Mr Tong is also an active member of the offshore & marine industry. He is a member of the American Bureau of Shipping, Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (Class NK) Singapore Committee and Society of Naval Architects & Marine Engineers (USA). He is also a Fellow of The Royal Institute of Naval Architects (RINA), UK. Mr Tong was conferred Singapore’s Public Service Medal in 1999.
