Skandi Africa Arrives at Huisman for Equipment Setup

DOF’s Skandi Africa and its crew have docked at the Huisman Schiedam quayside.

The next months Huisman will install a 650mt Pipelay Tower, a 150mt Knuckleboom Crane and a 900mt Pedestal Mounted Crane onboard the vessel.

In February 2014, Technip chartered a new construction vessel on a long-term basis from DOF Subsea, for delivery in 2015.

The Skandi Africa is a newbuild DP class 3 construction support vessel, designed for harsh environment and deepwater subsea construction and flexlay operations, up to 3,000 m depth.

The 160.9 meters long, VARD OSCV-design vessel, has a 2.700 m2 deck area, under-deck storage capacity of 3,500 Te and two work-class ROVs rated for 4,000 m water depth.

The vessel has a deadweight of 16.000 t  and it can accommodate 140 people.
