Danaos Takes Delivery of 13.100 TEU Vessel HYUNDAI TOGETHER

Danaos Corporation, a leading international owner of containerships, on February 16, 2012 took delivery of its largest vessel in the fleet , the HYUNDAI TOGETHER, expanding its operational fleet to a total of 60 containerships aggregating 304,249 TEU. The HYUNDAI TOGETHER, built at Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co. Ltd, has a carrying capacity of 13,100 TEU, is 366 meters long, 48.2 meters wide and has a speed of 24.70 knots.

The HYUNDAI TOGETHER has commenced its 12-year time charter at a fixed charter rate immediately upon delivery.

Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co., Ltd is the world’s 5th largest shipbuilder and produces approximately 30 vessels per year. The company belongs to Hyundai Heavy Industries Group which consists of 3 shipbuilders; Hyundai Heavy Industries, Hyundai MIPO Dock Yard and Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries.

HSHI mainly produces tankers, bulk carriers, container ships, gas and chemical carriers. The company also manufactures transport equipment such as Goliath Cranes and container offloading cranes.

In 2006, the company built a hull part of FPSO (Floating Production Storage Offloading) vessels also the company has started the production of LNG Carriers, LPG carriers and PCTCs (Pure Car & Truck Carrier). Furthermore, they are planning to increase the number of ships they can build in a year up to 41-43 ships by making and using a floating dock.
