HHI Secures Order for One LNG Carrier

Oman Shipping Company S.A.O.C. (OSC) has confirmed an order for a newbuild LNG Carrier, at Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (HHI), Ulsan, South Korea. The LNG Carrier, for delivery in 2014, will have a 162,000 cubic meter (CBM) capacity, and have dual fuel technology.

Further the vessel will comply with European “Green Certificate” requirements, as well as be capable as acting as a training vessel for up to 6 Trainees and an Instructor at any one time. OSC already owns and operates a fleet of 5 LNG Carriers, which are all technically managed “In-house” by Oman Ship Management Company S.A.O.C.

Hyundai Heavy (HHI), the world’s number one shipbuilder, leads the shipbuilding industry with a 15% share of the market. The Hyundai shipyard stretches over four kilometers along the coast of Mipo Bay in Ulsan, Korea. The Shipbuilding Division is capable of building all types of ships to meet various demands from its clients. It has nine large-scale dry docks with seven huge ‘Goliath Cranes’.
