The partnership integrates KEPCO’s Smart Fault Locator – Real Time (SFL-R) technology into LS Cable & System’s underground and submarine cable asset management platform, creating what the companies say is a fully integrated, intelligent power grid solution that spans manufacturing, diagnostics, monitoring, and operation.

First deployment is expected at Korea’s West Coast Energy Highway, a large-scale grid connection project proposed to be built by 2040 to transmit 20 GW of offshore wind.

According to LS Cable & System, the system enables real-time fault detection with over 99% accuracy and advanced monitoring based on real-time current measurement and noise filtering, and has proven performance on critical HVDC networks, including Jeju HVDC, and long-distance HVDC cable monitoring validated in live power grid operations.

“By combining LS Cable & System’s manufacturing and construction capabilities with Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO)’s operational expertise, we are establishing a next-generation intelligent power grid solution for the era of global energy transition,” said Bon-Gyu Koo, CEO of LS Cable & System. “This partnership will deliver tangible results for national energy infrastructure and demonstrate the global competitiveness of K-Power in markets worldwide.”
