Spotted: Largest Cruise Ship Ever Berths in Southampton

Royal Caribbean’s colossal cruise ship Harmony of the Seas arrived today in Southampton, the UK, becoming the biggest ship ever welcomed by this UK port. 

Harmony of the Seas officially joined Royal Caribbean’s fleet on May 12, 2016 in Saint Nazaire, France.

It will leave Southampton for a four-night cruise to Rotterdam on 22 May.

The cruise ship will sail from Southampton on a series of short getaways to Northern Europe including Rotterdam and Cherbourg before embarking on its maiden cruise on May 29, arriving in Barcelona, Spain on June 5.

Starting in June, Harmony of the Seas will sail the Western Mediterranean from Barcelona, Spain, during its inaugural season before arriving at its homeport of Port Everglades, Fort Lauderdale, Florida in November 2016 from where it will sail the Caribbean.

The cruise ship, towering 16 decks above the ocean, has a capacity of a record 5,479 passengers. With its gross tonnage of 226,000 tons and a length of 1,187 feet, the ship has a maximum cruising speed of 23 knots.
