Spotted: Seabourn Encore Christened in Singapore

US-based cruise line Seabourn, part of Carnival Corporation, held a christening ceremony for Seabourn Encore, the first of two ultra-luxury cruise ships ordered from Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, in Singapore on January 7, 2017.

The 600-passenger cruise ship was handed over to Seabourn in November 2016.

The 41,865 gross-ton vessel, which features a length of 210 meters and a width of 28 meters, is part of the company’s fleet modernization program which started in 2009.

“The launch of Seabourn Encore marks the start of a new era of ultra-luxury cruising,” Richard Meadows, President of Seabourn, said.

Following the naming ceremony, Seabourn Encore departed on its inaugural voyage, bound for Indonesia.

The second ship, Seabourn Ovation, is currently under construction and is scheduled to be launched in spring 2018.
