Spotted: Two Wagenborg’s Ships Meet in Panama Canal


Royal Wagenborg’s two general cargo vessels, MV Aragonborg and MV Arubaborg, met at the Gatun Locks while simultaneously transiting the Panama Canal westbound on December 13, 2016. 

The 17,294 dwt Aragonborg is sailing from the Swedish port of Uddevalla to Port Alma, Australia. Built in 2010, the vessel features a length of 143 meters and a width of 21.75 meters.

The second ship, the 17,407 dwt Arubaborg, was on its way to Manzanillo on the west coast of Mexico to deliver several yachts. The vessel, having the same size as MV Aragonborg, was built also in 2010.

MV Avonborg, another Wagenborg’s general cargo ship, is expected to enter the waterway eastbound, sailing from China to the St. Lawrence.

Founded in 1898, Royal Wagenborg is comprised of a number of companies involved in shipping, stevedoring, road transport, forwarding, warehousing, crane rental, heavy lifting, heavy transport, oil- and gas-related services, towage and passenger services.
