SSL Expands Range of Services after Merger with Neptumar

Scandinavian Shipping & Logistics AB (SSL), owned by the Swedish transport group Greencarrier AB, has merged with Neptumar AB, which is owned by the German transport group Menzell & Döhle.

The new company will operate under the name of Scandinavian Shipping & Logistics AB with offices in Gothenburg and Norrköping.

Joachim Lagerstedt, Managing Director of Scandinavian Shipping & Logistics AB, says the new company will be able to offer a wider range of services and products to its customers.

“Our merger with Neptumar in Sweden and the coming cooperation with the Menzell & Döhle group in Germany is a very important step in the development of Scandinavian Shipping & Logistics,” he says.

The greatest strength for the new Scandinavian Shipping & Logistics AB is its representation of more liner agencies to cover a wider service portfolio. But it will also benefit from further synergies in other fields, including project shipping.

“We are very happy about this new set-up and now get a very strong partner in Menzell & Döhle on the north-west continent. This will create even further great opportunities in the future for continued growth, expansion and development of the business.”

Christoph Tamke, Managing Director, Menzell & Döhle says: “We consider the merger of our Neptumar organisation with Scandinavian Shipping & Logistics in Sweden as a significant step forward in our organisation’s aim to strengthen our position in Scandinavia.”

Menzell & Döhle is one of the leading independent liner agents in North Europe, representing about 30 liner companies which operate container, conventional cargo and ro/ro services.

“In partnership with Scandinavian Shipping & Logistics, we will be in a position to offer even better service and transport solutions for all our customers – principals, cargo owners and freight forwarders – in the northern part of Europe,” Mr Tamke adds.

The new company will continue to operate in two locations: Gothenburg with eleven staff and Norrköping with eight staff.

The agreement was signed in Hamburg and applies from September 30, 2013.
