Star Reefers Adding Service from Vlissingen to Ecuador

Shipping line Star Reefers is launching a new weekly liner service from Zeeland’s port of Vlissingen to Ecuador, for containers and other cargo as of February 3.

The decision is part of expansion of the existing Saint Petersburg-Ecuador service, which will make an interim stop in Vlissingen to take on board return cargo.

“Star Reefers has been operating a successful service between Ecuador (Guayaquil) and Saint Petersburg for years and was looking for additional return cargo destined for Ecuador. As companies in the hinterland of Zeeland Seaports can generate sufficient return cargo heading for South America, an interim stop will be made in Vlissingen from February onwards. From Vlissingen, there will be a direct route to Ecuador, meaning that the liner service takes less time than existing liner container services,” Zeeland Ports said announcing the call.

Star Reefers will deploy eight ships on the route. The first departure on 3 February will involve the Andalucia Star.

The vessels will be loaded at stevedore Supermaritime, with Central Shipping Holland representing the shipping line as port agent for the container and breakbulk sectors, and III Kings for the sectors Ro-Ro and project cargo.
